How It Works

This test is an untimed computer adaptive diagnostic test. It's not like your typical pass-or-fail exam. Instead, a highly sophisticated algorithm is used to determine what your child already knows and what they still need to learn in each subject. After a question is answered correctly, a higher level question will come next. When a question is answered incorrectly, a lower level question will come next. This process will continue on for the duration of the test to pinpoint your child's specific and unique academic abilities. It is normal to get half of the questions correct/incorrect, so please be mindful of this and communicate to your child how this test works so they will not get discouraged when they don't know the answer to a question. The data that you receive after the test is completed will be very beneficial and helpful to see where your child is at academically and provide exactly what they need to learn for their grade level.

It is suggested to have your child stop and save their test every 15-20 minutes to take breaks, or as needed.

When should my child take this test?   It is recommended to have your child take this test 3 times during the school year--Beginning, Middle, and End, so that you can use their test results to measure your child's growth and progress for the school year, while making sure they are on track.

How soon can I receive my child's test results?  After each subject's test is completed, the test results are usually immediately available in your child's student account. You may need to log out and log back in for the test report to sync. Please email me at ChoiceNavigator@gmail.com after your child has completed their test if you need an official testing report to be emailed to you for your state/scholarship requirement. The Parent Report is not as detailed as the official report that the administrator has access to, so please send an email if you would like a detailed official report.

Rush Service Available!  If you need your child's test setup within 24 hours or less, we offer rush testing setup for $50. This service includes setting up your child's testing account within 24 hours or less and emailing test results afterwards after receiving your email notification when test is completed. It is highly recommended that your child take this test 3 times during the school year:

-Beginning: To get a baseline and determine needs/goals for the year.

-Middle: To do a checkup and see how progress is going. Make any necessary adjustments and reset Learning Path to stay on track.

-End: To do a final test to measure growth over the entire school year, evidence-based.

What is a Learning Path? After your child completes the i-Ready diagnostic test, a personalized Learning Path is automatically generated which is made up of a sequence of customized lessons based on your child's test results. It is focused on the skills your child needs to learn. If your child has any learning gaps or weaknesses, the personalized instruction will teach those specific skills and progress forward. It is recommended that your child use Learning Paths for a minimum of 45 minutes per week in each subject. Access to your child's Learning Path for the entire 2024-25 school year can be added as a one-time non-refundable fee for $275. i-Ready Instruction is only available for skills in K-8 grade levels. If your child needs a Learning Path for grades 9th-12th, please purchase the Exact Path Diagnostic Test and Learning Path, which is available for grades K-12.
